Having a dispute with a tenant or landlord? Rental Law discussion

Landlord Sold Property

Postby Arval » Sat Jun 28, 2014 1:15 am

I reside in California, and my landlord offered the rooming house and also the condo building he possesses. It's all-on one home. I reside in the house building. I pay rent regular, 150 per week. He explained verbally around three months before that he offered the home and that we'd about 6 months to consider a brand new spot to reside since that is when he'd be shutting the purchase. I requested the property master if it had been feasible, since I have've lived below for 7 years and been great on lease, if he might I'd like to slip on these last several rent funds to permit my partner and I to conserve money to maneuver. He stated that it was not truly his phone (since his household co-possesses the home) but he'd notice what he might do. I never noticed my landlord again, he never arrived by again to gather lease, and so I thought he would let's conserve our money.
I arrived home today to locate a notice on my doorway stating this was my NEXT notice about non-payment of lease. It mentioned that I had been educated the home had offered and that I had THIRTY DAYS to maneuver out. Additionally, it claims within the notice the energy and water, that will be contained in my lease funds, had been turn off on April 30th. The notice also mentioned they were likely to consider me to small-claims judge to recuperate the outstanding rent.
I had been informed just three months before the home offered, which I'd 6 months to locate a new location. Today, it seems that people just have 5 days left to maneuver, and never three more months. I actually don't understand what to complete since we still do not genuinely have that much cash saved-up to cover first, last, and protection to get a new location.
What're my choices? May they truly stop me out in 5 times? May they truly turn off our electrical and water around still-living below? I have been informed that I may remain below till each goes through the procedure of foreclosure which may purchase us per week or two more to save up and discover a location. But I actually don't wanna need to state below without water and electric.
If anybody has any guidance, I'd actually TRULY be thankful. Our current email address is [email protected]
Cheers in advance.
It seems like there might have been an arrangement to leave the areas with a specific day, by which event an observe that resources is likely to be turn off on or following the arranged date isn't uncommon. Nevertheless it seems like the shut off has less related to a decided transfer-outdate than it will with attempting to drive the tenant to leave without subsequent correct foreclosure procedures.
A holdover tenant has privileges and really should be legitimately evicted.
When the landlord does begin an eviction for nonpayment and you desire to keep ownership, you will have to pay for the lease you owe.
