Read this piece that one CANADIAN felt compelled to write after watching America get trashed and bashed by foreignors . THEN , tell me . . . Does it Cause You To Reconsider Now That You Know The TRUTH ?

The United States dollar took another pounding on German, French and British exchanges this morning, hitting the lowest point ever known in West Germany. It has declined there by 41% since 1971 and this Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least-appreciated people in all the world. As long as sixty years ago, when I first started to read newspapers, I read of floods on the Yellow River and the Yangtse. Well, who rushed in with men and money to help? The Americans did, that's who.



They have helped control floods on the Nile, the Amazon, the Ganges and the Niger. Today, the rich bottom land of the Mississippi is under water and no foreign land has sent a dollar to help. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy, were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of those countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.



When the franc was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. And I was there. I saw that.



When distant cities are hit by earthquakes, it is the United States that hurries into help... Managua Nicaragua is one of the most recent examples. So far this spring, 59 American communities have been flattened by tornadoes. Nobody has helped.



The Marshall Plan... the Truman Policy... all pumped billions upon billions of dollars into discouraged countries. And now, newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent war-mongering Americans.



I'd like to see one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplanes.



Come on... let's hear it! Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tristar or the Douglas 10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all international lines except Russia fly American planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or a women on the moon?



You talk about Japanese technocracy and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy and you find men on the moon, not once, but several times ... and safely home again.



You talk about scandals and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even the draft dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are right here on our streets in Toronto, most of them... unless they are breaking Canadian laws... are getting American dollars from Ma and Pa at home to spend here.



When the Americans get out of this bind... as they will... who could blame them if they said 'the hell with the rest of the world'. Let someone else buy the bonds, let someone else build or repair foreign dams or design foreign buildings that won't shake apart in earthquakes.



When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both of them are still broke. I can name to you 5,000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble.



Can you name to me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.



Our neighbours have faced it alone and I am one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their noses at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles.



I hope Canada is not one of these. But there are many smug, self-righteous Canadians. And finally, the American Red Cross was told at its 48th Annual meeting in New Orleans this morning that it was broke.



This year's disasters... with the year less than half-over... has taken it all and nobody... but nobody... has helped.

There is 2 things in particular that most people lie about regarding recent history. One, they ignore the Global Cooling scare and the reasons why Global Warming was first promoted (Global Warming is a myth created by Margaret Thatcher because she was trying to get a union to stop striking). Second, the left and right always claim that Ronald Reagan cut the size of government. He did nothing of the sort. Reagan would increase a program's budget 6% instead of the usual 10% and the left would complain that he was slashing that program.

If it's something 40 year olds would have trouble handling, it should also be a problem for any liberal. However, the real problem is that you think American is pure as the driven snow and has never done the slightest thing wrong. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to handle it.

What did you do when you first realized your parents weren't perfect? Did it destroy your world and did you stop loving them? Or did you, as a rational person, realize that no one is perfect and that is no reason to hate them?

America has done many great things. It has also supported dictators like Ferdinand Marcos, Hosni Mubarak, and Mohamar Qadafi. It has undercut the world's farmers by exporting government subsidized grain at prices no ordinary farmer could compete with.

Now, can you, at any age, handle the truth, or are you going to go on insisting that America must be perfect or you have to hate her?

I am a liberal.over 40. (with a brain and college educated . thank you)..........and I totally agreed with every word of that.

What did any of that have to do with being a liberal or not?

I recall it was BUSH who called Mussaraf, of Pakistan a "good friend".

Even though he was telling Bush to eff off, wouldn't let him conduct proper searches for Osama.......was in fact, a general, who OVERTHREW the democratically elected President, and then declared HIMSELF leder for life, and then assassinated his main opposition and disbanded the courts, who could prosecute him-

Bush called him a democracy loving friend, and invited him to the White House.

Then sent him BILLIONS in flood and earthquake relief. .....all while they were hiding Osama in plain side, near a top military base.

It was OBAMA.....who told Pakistan were to go and how to get there.......and just sent in the troops, WITHOUT begging any idiot's PERMISSION first.

and oh, guess what...............we got Osama............despite all the protection Pakistan was giving him,

It makes me spit bullets to hear we are still giving them *ANY* sort of aid.

Next earthquake......Yeah, ask Russia.......and let's return all that "help" Pakistan gave us.....which was NOTHING!

Here is another "FACT".

Americans worker wages have been stagnant for 40 years.
American elite corporate owners are richer than at any time anyone has ever been in the history of the USA.

Why can't you support the worker instead of the corporate owner. The corporate owner has had over 40 years of tax breaks and benefits, the middle class is destroyed.

Want to bring the economy back?????? Give workers more money, they will spend it.

Want another fact, The USA wanted to build a canal from the Atlantic to the Pacific. T. Roosevelt tried to get the country of Columbia to give the land to the USA to build the canal. The Colombian government refused to the US terms. The US then staged a rebellion and created the country of Panama and made the canal themselves and took ownership of it.

Another fact,
Americans were living like billionaires in Panama, while the Panamanian workers were living in utter poverty. Omar Torjitos became president and demanded that some of the wealth that the Panama Canal creates go towards the Panamanian people. In, 1977, president Carter agreed and signed the treaty to give the canal back to the Panamanian people in 1997. For that, Carter was attacked by the corporate led right wing media and Torjitos was assassinated under orders of the CIA.

Another fact, America's Right wing corporate led GOP worked to overthrow the democratically elected leader of Iran because he refused to give oil to the USA at prices the USA corporations wanted. The GOP led arm of the US government then put in the Ayatollah to lead Iran, who then agreed to give oil to the USA at the prices they wanted.
As an added benefit, they agreed to take 400 US citizens hostage to make Carter look bad. 1 hour after Reagan was sworn in, the Iranians freed the hostages at the command of the GOP.

Another fact, When Japan approached Nicaragua to build a second Pacific-Atlantic canal, the US corporate led GOP went into action again. They worked with the contras to overthrow the sandinista government and institute their own US owned Banana Republic in Nicaragua. They killed over 10,000 Nicaraguans.

Republicans feel they're entitled to cheap imports at the expense of their fellow Americans jobs but don't want to pay for food stamps to keep their victims from starving. FACT!

Where in the heck did he get his facts? China is working on putting a man on the moon. The airplanes that have came out recently are the most amazing things I have ever seen. they are nothing compared to ours. They have seats that that can change into numerous things including a full size bed. They are for the 24 hour flights that you never see in the states. The sub trains stations are exceptional between Russia and Iran. Yes we were the top of the line and it started going downhill in the 80s. We have never ever upgraded our system to the metric system which is a must in any field. It should be commonlly used for our kids who need it. It's been used in other counties since Thomas Jefferson change ours to have a bigger foot our yard would be similar to the meter. so, eventually we would feel comfortable to update our system. We want to be an Empire, for the world to owe us and remain in our grasp. We do favors to keep our military there. To have the power to take action in their land. You call it protection but it's power. We can't be as powerful if Russia's base is there. When Empires fall it's because their warriors were spread to thin and they tried to control too much. It's also because their leaders were at each other's throat. Divided we fall.
