Looking For A Puppy To Look At Or Buy-In The Miami, Florida Region...for Holiday.

Postby nann » Tue Dec 24, 2013 1:08 am

If you must be obtaining a dog for Christmas, please do not produce a rash decision and believe it by means of cautiously...... Have you been getting purebred puppy or probably a mixed-breed?   If you are looking for a purebred dog, I am wondering why, if not to breed.  There are so several abandoned pets out there.  If you've a kind in your mind that you'd like, there will be regarded a recovery for that breed.  This might take time, however whichever route you pick have to take time.  This is just a choice not to be studied lightly, as you'll have this dog for numerous, several years.     I'd not typically recommend a pet for Christmas, as you could really feel rushed into selecting one particular, and furthermore the holiday might be as well frustrating for the pup to regulate and for one particular to give it the quantity of interest and early instruction that it'll need. If it really is for a kid, I'd wait until a couple of days later to get the puppy, if he or she's old adequate to comprehend that.  If you do have a child or kids, please make positive that they are mature sufficient to take care of the puppy lightly and not be rambunctious.  The very very first 7 to 12 months are when pups learn the absolute most, and what they understand is likely to be taken into readiness together. Anything that takes place for them at that period, or anything they learn, is most likely to be appreciated! It is totally inserted within their minds.  This could be the time that you'll need to teach them around feasible, or they'll teach themselves.  This is their fastest understanding time inside their lives therefore try to steer clear of negative actions from building.   This is actually the web site for petfinder.com. It's a fantasitic web-site and you could appear at all the SPCAs and shelters within the area.  I joined a Miami zipcode for you, but there are lots of zipcodes in Miami so you might want to alter your analysis zipcode. You'll be astonished at the recovery organizations that exist that you weren't conscious of.  I know I was when I appeared for my next puppy. Even though I was "just looking" when I noticed him in the SPCA the 3rd just took my heart together with his soulful eyes and nice attitude!!   http://search.petfinder.com/investigation/search.cgi?pet.Animal=Dog&pet.Breed=&pet.Age=child&pet.Size=&pet.Sex=&location=33010   Together with the help of Petfinder, you should certanly be in a position to uncover locations to-go and contemplate the dogs.  It is definitely greater to see them personally than on-line, although viewing them on the web may possibly can help you to uncover those that attract you. It really is not completely up-to-date even so, so don?t fall in deep love with a specific a single as it may possibly be removed a couple of days prior.  Also there need to be new folks that haven't been published yet.  That is why it really is much better to go and search for your self.   Listed right here is a internet-site that displays puppy improvement in detail.  I discovered this in Vet Technology college and I'd recommend that you sustain this net-site, because it is likely to be quite useful to you as your puppy grows and develops. It is an over-all post on Dog Improvement, though it is from the Doberman site.   http://www.doberman.org/posts/puppy.htm    Please don?t rush into making a decision.  You'll know when you locate the correct one particular:-)  Greatest of luck! Looking For A Puppy To Adopt Or Buy In The Miami, Florida Area...for Christmas.

Postby kolli13 » Mon Jan 06, 2014 8:07 am

If this is for a Christmas present - don?t.  Practically one hundred% of all dogs and cats given as Christmas presents finish up going to the pound inside six months.  If you truly want to give a person a pet 1) wait until spring and two) give them cash and let them choose out their personal.   But if this is for yourself Miami is almost certainly a single of the much better locations to get a dog in the winter months.  The big problem for most of us is housebreaking a dog when there?s snow on the ground and the poor small factor just doesn?t want to go out that door. But for you - that?s not a problem.    If you?re hunting for a smaller sized breed, and particularly, if you?re an apartment dweller, I?d suggest a daschund.  Shorthaired, excellent character and simple to deal with in an apartment.  But you may possibly want to think about rescuing a dog as an alternative of a puppy.  Attempt here.   Excellent luck.

www.petfinder.com will list all rescues in the area and the animals available - you can even search by breed of dog.  Keep in mind that going through a rescue will most likely have fee(that will go towards rescuing other animals) and may have interviews & home checks.     http://search.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi?pet.Animal=Dog&pet.Breed=&pet.Age=baby&pet.Size=&pet.Sex=&location=Miami%2C+FL

Looking For A Puppy To Adopt Or Buy In The Miami, Florida Area...for Christmas.

If you are attempting to find a purebred, you are going about it the wrong way.  Many reputable breeders do not even maintain websites.  Breeders who do have websites may give some superficial information, but to adequately assess their pups you would need to visit the premises, see the animals, interview the breeders, and talk to others who have purchased from them.  Finding an outstanding breeder is a time consuming process you will probably not finish before Christmas.  If you still have your heart set on a purebred, you will want to look into a breed rescue.  I do not know what kind of dog you are looking for, so I cannot help you with specific links.  If you type "Miami rescue" into Google, you will get a list of rescue organizations that specialize in particular breeds of dog.  You can also do a search for your breed on Petfinder.com. If you do not mind a mutt, you can look into all-breed rescues(type "Miami dog rescue" into Google).  A rescue organization will generally foster its animals, meaning the adoptable dogs are actually living with a family in a home while they wait to be rescued.  Because of this process, the organization should be able to tell you a great many details about its dogs, like whether they get along with children or cats or if they have any medical problems.  Again, Petfinder.com has mutts, too. A more grab-bag approach to finding a mutt is to visit your local animal shelter.  These places are generally overcrowded and cannot tell you much about a dog's temperament or background.  You can frequently find puppies, though, and often purebred dogs as well.  If you rescue from a shelter, you know that you are saving a life. If  you are obtaining this dog as a Christmas gift, please alert the recipient as to what you will be giving him/her.  A dog is a 10+ year commitment and choosing one can be a very personal process.  Do not drop an unwanted or unsuitable dog on a unsuspecting family member or friend.

Looking For A Puppy To Adopt Or Buy In The Miami, Florida Area...for Christmas.

Postby MacBride » Mon Feb 10, 2014 9:02 pm

Are you looking for a purebred dog or a mixed breed?   If you are looking for a purebred dog, I am wondering why, if not to breed.  There are so many homeless animals out there.  If you have a breed in mind that you would like, there will be a rescue for that breed.  This may take time, but then whatever path you choose needs to take time.  This is a decision not to be taken lightly, as you will have this dog for many, many years.     I would not normally recommend a puppy for Christmas, as you may feel rushed into choosing one, and also the holiday may be too overwhelming for the puppy to adjust and for you to give it the amount of attention and early training that it will require. If it is for a child, I would wait until a few days later to pick up the puppy, if he or she is old enough to understand that.  If you do have a young child or children, please be sure that they are mature enough to handle the puppy gently and not be rambunctious.  The first 7 to 12 weeks are when puppies learn the most, and what they learn will be taken into maturity with them. Anything that happens to them at that time, or anything they learn, will be remembered! It is permanently embedded in their minds.  This is the time that you need to teach them as much as possible, or they will teach themselves.  This is their fastest learning time in their lives so try to prevent bad behaviors from forming.   Here is the site for petfinder.com. It is a fantasitic web-site and you can look at all of the SPCAs and shelters in the area.  I entered a Miami zipcode for you, but there are many zipcodes in Miami so you may want to change your search zipcode. You will be amazed at the rescue organizations that exist that you were not aware of.  I know I was when I looked for my second dog. The third just stole my heart with his soulful eyes and sweet demeanor when I saw him in the SPCA while I was "just looking"!!   http://search.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi?pet.Animal=Dog&pet.Breed=&pet.Age=baby&pet.Size=&pet.Sex=&location=33010   With the help of Petfinder, you should be able to find places to go and look at the dogs.  It is much better to see them in person than online, although seeing them online may will help you to find the ones that appeal to you. It is not completely up-to-date though, so don?t fall in love with a certain one as it may be gone a few days prior.  Also there should be new ones that have not been posted yet.  That is why it is best to go and look for yourself.   Here is a web-site that shows puppy development in detail.  I learned this in Vet Tech school and I would recommend that you keep this web-site, as it will be very helpful to you as your puppy grows and matures. Although it is from a Doberman site, it is a general article on Puppy Development.   http://www.doberman.org/articles/puppy.htm    Please don?t rush into making a decision.  You will know when you find the right one :-)  Best of luck!
