Los Angeles The Best Place to Raise a Family?

I have always wanted to pursue a career in Law Enforcement and I Have decided that I want to pursue this in California, I have always had a "thing" for the city of Los Angeles and have always originally intended on raising a family here.
Im just wondering if really Los Angeles is the best place to raise a family
the warm climate, solid educational institutions (Grade School & Colleges and Universities)
the leader in entertainment industry and so many more things L.A. has to offer
but, I have also been contemplating on the decision on whether Los Angeles is the best place for me to raise a family or if the San Francisco Bay Area would be better as I have heard from a few people who left SoCal to raise their families in NorCal due to a "better quality of life" there

Can Anyone Give Me Advice on Which is Really Better and The Pro's and Con's of Both

I am not familiar with North but there are many family friendly suburbs in Southern CA. I am not that familiar but Thousand Oaks,Calabasas,Agoura Hills,Westlake Village I know are family friendly,good schools,nice climate and not too far from LA. Where are you living now? It is very expensive which I am thinking you know. Same in North though. Have you researched where the best schools for the career is,cost,job outlook etc?

Los Angeles is the worst place for raising a family, and San Francisco isn't far behind. Your children will likely suffer from asthma due to the pollution and the people in Los Angeles are not friendly. San francisco isn't much better. Come raise a family here in Canada instead.
