Lots more nurses means lots more attorney's?

Postby vanaken25 » Mon Apr 04, 2011 9:13 pm

There has been an increase in the number of college students that are focusing on a major relating to health care, especially nursing. Since there is going to be a greater number of healthcare professionals that means there's going to be a lot more mistakes. More mistakes equals more cases. Logic dictates that there's going to be a demand for more malpractice attorney's as a result, right? Do you think that's true?

No, I do not think so at all. Personally, I think it would be the opposite. Lots of malpractice mistakes happen because of staffing shortages and overworking the current staff. And just because there are more people majoring in nursing doesn't necessarily mean that there are enough jobs to cover them all.

No, it may actually mean the opposite. The present shortage of nurses dictates that the available nurse work force must work longer hours and overtime. Tired workers make more mistakes than well rested ones. With a larger workforce, it follows that they won't be overworked and overly tired translating into fewer mistakes being made.
