Markting Question.

Postby Avikar » Fri Jun 20, 2014 10:32 am

Hello Penny,

I will really appreciate your thoughts for the following-

I am a freelance creative writer/consultant.

These days, I am considering a new service for different companies- creating business development ideas for different companies and in different industries.

The ideas mostly deal with new services/products for existing companies- such as new ideas for the soft drink industry, etc.

I tried connecting many companies, offering them with some innovative ideas, that I have already created  (I am willing to use a royalties way of payment)- I tried selling new ideas for board games, new ideas for products, new ideas for software and more.

After many attempts, I got into the conclusion that business is not one of my strongest skills- I really tried, but found out that I should stay in the creative side only.

Therefore, I need to partner, or use a service, of a professional who can take my ideas into the marketplace(on a regular basis), but, I face a dilemma and do not really know which path to follow:

My service is something in between consulting and inventing- As I do not deal with patents/trademarks etc(also, many of the ideas are not patentable- such as an idea for a new service), I am not really able to follow the inventor's marketing route(I tried)

As to the consulting route- Most of the time, I do not need to begin a "routinely" consulting progress(a meeting with the company, researching etc) as I come up with the ideas in a similar way to an inventor.

Although it is possible to provide innovative ideas, made to order(similar to a consultant), I prefer the proactive way- creating ideas by my own, and in industries that I like, and only then to offer my ideas for others to use. I do not know if a collaboration with a consulting firm will provide me with the solution, as they provide solutions to specific problems, and I will not be able choose the product/service/industry to work for, as a freelance(I tried working in other ways, but freelancing is the best way suited to me) As mentioned above, I will really appreciate your thoughts about the right professional, that I should connect and partner with(someone who can sell my ideas, on a regular basis)

One final point- I was not able to find any "licensing agent" in my country, only several patents firms, which can not help me, as they deal with patents, trademarks, etc.

Thank you, in advanced, for any idea.

Kind regards,

L.I

Markting Question.

Hello there, Let me see what I can do to address your issues and any questions in them: 1. I will really appreciate your thoughts for the following- I am a freelance creative writer/consultant. These days, I am considering a new service for different companies- creating business development ideas for different companies and in different industries. The ideas mostly deal with new services/products for existing companies- such as new ideas for the soft drink industry, etc.

a) OK 2. I tried connecting many companies, offering them with some innovative ideas, that I have already created  (I am willing to use a royalties way of payment)- I tried selling new ideas for board games, new ideas for products, new ideas for software and more. After many attempts, I got into the conclusion that business is not one of my strongest skills- I really tried, but found out that I should stay in the creative side only.

a) In other words you gave them for free as you did not employ before submitting them a “Non Disclosure/Non Compete Agreement”? 3. Therefore, I need to partner, or use a service, of a professional who can take my ideas into the marketplace(on a regular basis), but, I face a dilemma and do not really know which path to follow:

a) Ideas do not get into the marketplace but fully-finished market-ready products do. Ideas are a dime-a-dozen and not protectable until reduced to either a prototype or some form of patent application submitted to a patent office(at least in the U.S.) You probably need to consider getting into the “do” part of the cycle. b) Perhaps you’re hoping to become someone like the fellow with the web site Rent and Inventor?

4. My service is something in between consulting and inventing- As I do not deal with patents/trademarks etc(also, many of the ideas are not patentable- such as an idea for a new service), I am not really able to follow the inventor's marketing route(I tried)

a) OK

5. As to the consulting route- Most of the time, I do not need to begin a "routinely" consulting progress(a meeting with the company, researching etc) as I come up with the ideas in a similar way to an inventor.

Although it is possible to provide innovative ideas, made to order(similar to a consultant), I prefer the proactive way- creating ideas by my own, and in industries that I like, and only then to offer my ideas for others to use.I do not know if a collaboration with a consulting firm will provide me with the solution, as they provide solutions to specific problems, and I will not be able choose the product/service/industry to work for, as a freelance(I tried working in other ways, but freelancing is the best way suited to me) a) OK 6. As mentioned above, I will really appreciate your thoughts about the right professional, that I should connect and partner with(someone who can sell my ideas, on a regular basis)

a)  Calling up a company telling them you have a bunch ideas would generally, I expect, receive no answer or one would be hung up on.  You either need to get serious about becoming an inventor starting by reading basic books or perhaps apply viable skills you have to help inventors. 7. One final point- I was not able to find any "licensing agent" in my country, only several patents firms, which can not help me, as they deal with patents, trademarks, etc.

a) What country are you in?

Regards,

Penny
