Medical malpractice and malpractice insurance?

Probably not, as this sort of info is held close to the vest so to speak. For nursing, it is relatively inexpensive. Many nurses do not carry their own, they are covered by the hospital.

MDs malpractice depends on many factors such as where they practice, what they practice, what specialty they are etc. Often a medical group negotiates a rate for the whole group. My husband (ER) thinks his insurance (again its a group) is probably about $100, 000.00 per year per MD. OB surgeons pay at least 3 times that.

There are far more law suits brought then actually go to trial. Some are dismissed, some fizzle out, some settle before court. Docs usually win (the defense) over 58%. To try & get some figures, contact the NY state medical association.
