If you were scheduled to work 1pm -7pm are you required to stay after your scheduled time out if at the end of your shift they decide they want to keep you longer
Job in question is Mcdonalds

There aren't any laws I can think of about keeping you past your shift. I'd suggest that you look for another job. Maybe you could just transfer to another McDonalds.

There is no such law about scheduling hours, only that they are required to pay minimum wage, how many hours you can work if a minor, or when/if you are allowed breaks/lunch and overtime.

It appears that at 7pm, McDonalds like many retail stores were short of people or needed the employees to work longer to take care of business so asked you to stay. I am sure there are days when they may call you in or others to take care of business when someone calls in sick or short of staff.

Go to the department of labor and it will list what is required or not.

so long as they pay you for that time, they aren't doing anything wrong

if working late upsets yuo that much, you are going to have a rough time in life as an adult - you might have a M-F office job that might require you to stay late some nights or work on a Saturday and you might NOT get paid overtime for those extra hours - not all adult full-time jobs pay extra for overtime

There is no slave labor in the US.
Are you "required" or can a company "make" you work overtime or past your shift = NO
Can the company let you go because you are unwilling or unable to work overtime or past your shift = YES.

If they require you to stay beyond your scheduled time, they have to pay you for the extra time. That's all. They can tell you, they don't have to ask you. Whether you want to or not doesn't matter legally.
