My ex-wife has been technically homeless for a couple of months now. For the most part she's been staying with friends and she stayed in my apartment for a couple of weeks while I was visiting family out of state. Recently I cleared our bank account of some money that was technically half hers (leftovers from a tax return) and gave her the half that was hers. My current room mate also moved out and left a bunch of meat in the freezer which I gave to her since I don't eat meat. So I dropped off the money and the meat at her moms where she was staying at the time and left. Well the next day come to find out she demanded rent money from my ex-wife and then almost immediately kicked her out and called the cops on her when she demanded the rent money back. It was only thanks to a friend who came and picked my ex up that my ex didn't go to jail for something she never did. So basically my ex just lost a bunch of money and the groceries that I gave her so she could get kicked out the very next day. Now I'm mad. Seriously livid. I've never really liked her mom and always considered her a hypocrite and a self-centered human being, but I never quite thought she'd sink to the level of common thief. But that's what she's done. She basically stole almost $200.00 from my ex and about $100.00 worth in groceries and then tried to get her thrown in jail when she demanded her money back. I live in the state of Texas. I was wondering what legal options, if any, I would have towards getting that money back and ensuring that my ex-mother-in-law is punished under the due process of law.
