My Boyfriend And I Have Been Talking Marriage, He Pays Child Support.. Will I Be Expected To Pay If He Doesn't.

We live in Michigan. How do we get married with out the courts yanking all of my taxes.. He was paying child support before i came into the picture, Why should i have to pay after we get married. I have 3 children from my previous marriage and i don't expect him to take care of my 3 children.. Does anyone have any answers for me.. I love this man with all my heart. I dont want the Child support laws to stop us from being married. But If need be, to save my butt, we wont get married.

I would suggest talking with a lawyer, this way you have a 99% chance of getting the right answer.   jacle2270 6 months ago

He is responsible for the child support. However, if he gets behind, and you file your taxes jointly, they will take the refund that actually is due to both of you.So, get married, but keep your finances separate. When it comes to filing, you need to file married, filing single. As for you placing money higher than him, and his children, well, I suggest you not marry. Money is the biggest cause of divorce.   TurboB 6 months ago
