I bank with a credit union where most of my co workers are with traditional banks .

Banks and credit unions have certain rules they must follow, i.e. they must have the money credited to accounts by a certain time. For us(I worked in Payroll at a Vets Hospital), it had to be in before midnight on every other Friday. Some banks waited until then, and some posted it late Thurday when the electronic payment "arrived". Also, some times there was a problem - the tape was sent late or an individual bank's computers were down for a while, etc. I imagine in your case it is just the practice of the credit union you are using, and I feel sure they are following the rules. If you want access to your money sooner, you'll probably have to switch to one of the banks that makes funds available sooner.   anniemdaffodils 36 months ago
