My grandfather died from asbestos. Since his death there have been several settlements that have been paid to?

several settlements to his estate. He lived and died in florida and the heirs live in florida. the class action suits were settled in NY. the amounts are under $5 mil. Is the money taxable to the heirs and by which state?
