My parents dont support me in becoming a lawyer?

Postby corcoran42 » Wed Jul 11, 2012 11:46 pm

i am 15.
a good student and i wanted to become a lawyer or something law-crime related my whole life.
and i am good at writing i enjoy reading talking etc.. anyway my point is i really want to become a lawyer.
but my parents dont support me they say it's a tough profession and that anyone can become a lawyer because a lot of people have ready businesses that they got from their parents and i wont have so i will have to start from zero.
also they tell me that i have to become a doctor because i am smart and it makes a lot of money. what to do? are they right?

**** your parents, if you want to be a lawyer, then become one, you don't need them to succeed.

Sometimes parents are looking forward for you to do a job they wanted to do since the day you were born. Though that is unfair so i would try SHOWING your parents how much being a lawyer means to you instead of TELLING them. hope this helps

In the end it all comes down to you, what you want to do most and what you will be happiest doing.
Keep in mind your 15 and your plans might change but if you really want to become a lawer then i say go for it. At the end of the day your parents will still support you no matter what.
It is better to do a job you love and that pays ok then to do a job you hate but pays well.

no they are completly wrong. if you want to be a lawyer. do it. i would chose a big lawyer who started from scratch over a lawyer who got to were they are not becasuse of skill but cause they brown noise there parents. when your a lawyer you can look your parents in the eye. if they do not respect you for making your dream to come true. they dont deserve your respect.

Do what makes you happy.. you're the one that will have to live with your decision. If you work at it enough, you can succeed in your chosen area. Not everyone can become a lawyer at all and yes, it is a tough profession but so is becoming a doctor. Both professions have the potential to bring in a decent salary... Last time I checked though, money wasn't everything.. so follow your chosen path. It's your life after all.

doctors are paid very well as same as the respect they have...but i think no one can involve in a profession that they have no interest .... so i suggest u to make them understand it, and u could do a little Research on those 2 professions and show them a lawyer can also have a luxury life...

They're wrong.

What their saying makes no sense. If they're suggesting that becoming a doctor is easier then a lawyer, that's not true.

Anything you do is difficult. And everything has a potential to make money. The degree of difficulty and the amount of money you make shouldn't be the main criteria for selecting a profession.

Do what you enjoy. That is the way to joy, happiness and success.
