Nh - Roomate Is Doing Drugs, How Do I Get Out?

If I moved in/signed the lease for a year within a month of finding out my roommate is buying and doing drugs in my apt and I want to get out of this situation, what is my best course of action without incurring penalties for breaking my lease? If any more information would be needed or if anything in unclear please let me know, I?m just trying to keep it simple. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

If you get your RM busted for drugs and he is a guest of state he is not there to bother you? In some states the DA can grab a unit being used for drug trade--if your local DA has such visions and your LL has any fears you LL should be quick to sign a release of your lease to get you out.
Who is your LL--the roommate---your post is unclear.
Invite cops over at select times ?

I'm not terribly concerned about being arrested knowing that I'm going to the police to turn someone in. I'd be concerned about it if she got caught and I had not turned her in, then I would be guilty.I appreciate the help in figuring out a plan for this situation.

You're very welcome; just don't want to see roomie turn this around on you..and frankly, even the cops aren't obligated NOT to bust you, too, if they are led to believe there is reasonable cause to do so,  Be careful how you handle this hot potato.
On the other hand, drugs aren't the big war these days and roomie may get out of it with just a citation...and you're back where you started.  So that's why I say to try other means first...
..maybe let her know she might be happier with someone with her own habits and work together to find a new rm?   If not cooperative, you can change your tactics, but keep yourself out of danger at all costs...busting her isn't worth making your own life miserable.

My only problem with this would be...might the cops end up busting everyone (including you) in the residence? This is something hard to control, things could get out of hand.  I'd consider talking to the LL about this, who may evict roomie over it.

Well, simply consider yourself advised; this has been recognized to occur!  Abruptly, itis "Gee, Tsweet, what is THIS performing inside your space?"  and roomie is likely to be happy to pull another person in.  Like I stated, itis not really a foolproof game.  I'd NEVER provide the police to my home to destroy another person for something which might be pinned on me by residing in exactly the same apt with druggie...also risky. But, obviously, her charge will not get you off the rent; have you considered another roomie to pay for her reveal?  The LL does not need to consider you off the lease simply because you can not spend the entire quantity; you will be there...and roomie,also, after she (or mother or bf) makes her bail.  How cozy may that be?  be ready. You can only just wish the LL may evict her if busted, but there's no promise...and also youare still about the rent. Individually, I Would attempt to get free from it quickly first, without starting an entire may of viruses that may return to bite you with techniques you-can't imagine today...like roomie swearing you're her seller, etc.  it may get really complicated.  Surre, you are able to show your purity...after employing a lawyer, charge, numerous court times, etc...discover the reason? I would try to look for her a subsitute roommie first, but when you choose to destroy her out, do not believe it'll be as simple as it might appear; be ready for the worst.  Good luck.

You contact the local drug task force and ask them how to turn in your roommate. Don't tell your roommate.
