NYS labor laws involving break periods and meals?

Hi, I work in retail as a part time associate. But I am being given 40 hours a week, is this legal? Also they require me to work 9 hours days and only give me a one hour lunch break... And refuse to give me any 15 minute breaks. I thought it was a law that you are required to be given fifteen minute breaks?

I think that it may involve a combination, such as half-hour for lunch with two 15 minute breaks; or just one 1 hour break.
