One of my delinquent credit card accounts?

was sold to another company, lets call it, XYZ Corporation. XYZ Corp has now sued me. Is XYZ Corp considered a "debt collector" under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act? How about the law firm representing XYZ Corp? Also, if XYZ Corp is not a debt collector under the act, what are they? Thanks!
