Ontario Landlord/tenant laws on bed bugs?

Postby philibert63 » Mon Jul 09, 2012 11:01 am

I just moved to an apartment building in hamilton ontario and everything seemed fine until about a week in we noticed we were getting bit.. we thought maybe it was flees because we have one cat but we got flee treatment and it continued, now my girlfriend is getting large red bites all over her legs and now chest and we told the landlords and they are getting someone in to spray it.. but we have already bought cans of bed bug spray and sprayed our bed and couches and anything that they would be on and it helped for about a day and then we noticed new bites again, is there anything legally we can do like get a stop on rent until it is fixed? and if they come in and spray and it continues is there any way to break the lease? any other possible information would be greatly appreciated aswell, thanks.

You have to pay rent and you can't break the lease for bed bugs. Be thankful that they're actually spraying for it.

Shhh!! If you tell everyone you have them others will be jealous. Most people have a no pets clause.
