But all you hear is fear and war mongering. - It's the "War on Terror," the "War on illegal Drugs." They pump billions into this and these problems just seam to get bigger. You know how many 9/11s it would take to kill 100,000 in the US like Big Pharma does each year? - A lot. Add all the screw ups the medical profession makes regarding patients and the death toll skyrockets. Reforms to the medical profession would save thousands, yet these political flip-floppers with their special interests seam determined to spend our taxes on fighting the boogeyman. "The boogeyman is everywhere." Well, I think our public servants are the real boogeymen. What's your take?

You're more likely to die from complications from obesity than poverty, drugs, alcohol, tobacco and terrorism combined in this country.

More Americans die of peanut allergy every year than the total amount killed by terrorists since 1967. Since 2000, there have been 2,804 American deaths from terrorism (most on 9/11), there have already been 86,500 American deaths from heart disease this year. The "war on terror" is just plain silly. "Terror" is a verb, how do you defeat a verb? It makes about as much sense as the "war on drugs". Oh well, at least the "war on the middle class" seems to be more successful....

Well some adverse reactions sadly are not preventable but prescription drug abuse is really high in this country. Also there are a lot of drugs poorly tested before they are released to the public which are unsafe and some newer drugs are prescribed that are not even needed- sometimes older cheap drugs are just as good and with less side effects. The marketing of the unneeded popular drugs to people is crazy and I am sure this accounts for some deaths - people run to their dr asking for drugs they see on TV cause they think they need them!
One problem I see with the newer drugs is the limited testing- I know some of this is because of all the protest of groups like peta. Sadly if you want drugs tested to be safe first - you need to test them on living things animals or humans. Since we don't want to sacrifice animals we release these drugs to the market and they get "tested " on humans and often children. Sometimes this ends badly with deaths. I love animals but I think we have to test the drugs more but also use drugs to benefit sick people and not just line rich peoples pockets with profits!

Tsk, tsk; that would include the Heath Ledger's Whitney Houston's and Elvis Presley's who abused their meds.

Abt 1/2 of Rx users dont take them as directed.
