Passport Name Change

Postby Egerton » Tue Jun 17, 2014 9:16 pm

Hi,

I have my name change done in the year dec-2005 from "S. Nadimulla hussain" to "S.Nadeem".  I have applied for fresh passport a week ago in my previous name in TATKAL scheme and which is due to receive in a day or two.

All my marksheets and certificates are in my previous name.  I'm known by my new name in all the experience certificates.  Recently my customer has sent me a invitation letter to the embassy on my new name.

What i need to know is that is there any way to mention my new name as alias name in my passport.

Someone say that it is possible to add an "Observervation"  in the passport which says i will also be known as "S.Nadeem".

Pls suggest.

Thanks

Nadeem

Passport Name Change

Hello Nadeem,

You are silent on the aspect of the procedure that you followed on the name change in the year 2005. If your name change is legally accepted then you need not to add any 'alias' to your name as you are now known as S.Nadeem and not S.Nadimulla Hussain. The certificates bearing the name may be supported by an affidavit where ever so required with the fact that you have legally changed your name and are now called S.Nadeem and enclose the gazette notification where you name change is publihsed. This is sufficient compliance from your end.

As for the Passport application, if you have incorporated your changed name as the name that you desired in your passport, it will be processed as you have given, subject to verification and the procedure that the RPO may follow. In the invitation letter if your customer has requested the embassy to allow you to enter their country will not have any bearing on the Visa Officer whose discretion is important than any invitation. If you have your financials and other documents in order the Visa Officer will surely consider your visit to the country of your customer.

Along with your Visa Form you need file an affidavit in support of your name change as the Visa Officers are very particular about the status of the person. Do your home work properly in order to secure the Visa.

I hope this suffice your query,

All the best
