PC World scamming me. Will pick best answer.?

Postby zackary42 » Thu Jul 26, 2012 12:01 pm

Not sure what section to post this in, it's consumer rights related.

I purchased an ASUS N55SL from PCWorld this week.

After an hour of usage I noticed the speakers crackle when playing sound. It's an on/off problem, I could have 24 hours of clear music then a whole day of crackling.

I went to return the laptop due to the fault today and they refused me a refund until they witness the fault themselves. He said if the fault doesn't occur there, nothing will happen...

I spent £600 on this laptop and the sound doesn't work properly, and I know 100% it doesn't. What defence do I have if they say the fault didn't occur while testing it?

I work at sea and join a ship next Tuesday, I will not be returning for long after that. This needs to be sorted ASAP...

Does anyone know how I can get a refund/exchange for a different laptop?
(Google "ASUS crackling sound" - you'll see that it's a problem with MANY ASUS laptops)
