i don't understand the problem -- to buy beer you have to have an ID -- to use a check you have to have an ID -- what is the problem with showing an ID when you vote ---- and every state i know has free IDs for older people and people that don't drive anmldr 15 months ago

I know. I saw the video.During the last Presidential election, Obama was in town to speak and I was working on the campaign and attended. The streets were packed and a guy was surrounded by a huge number of people. He had a handful of "example ballot" and was teaching people how to use them. He was purposely misleading people so that their votes would have been rejected. I broke up the group and corrected what he was saying and he claimed I was a plant. I got a cop and it turned out he was working for the GOP. Nice huh? Max20characters 15 months ago

I'm confused about this - I have always had to show my ID first to register and then before I am allowed to vote. I check in, then I go vote. Is that unique to my state or town? Doesn't everybody have to show ID to prove you still live in the district you are voting in? And if not, why wouldn't we want people to show an ID? I would think that not having ID's would lend itself more to voter fraud.BTW - my answer and question are in no way a reflection on what political party I am a member of or an indication of who I am planning to vote for :) TerriM 15 months ago

Thank you. I did some research on the topic this afternoon. It was interesting to learn that although my state does not require ID the towns I have lived in, and voted in have requested it.
