Permanent Redness after Scleral Buckle Eye Surgery?

Postby breasal » Mon Jul 30, 2012 6:40 pm

Hi, I got scleral buckle surgery done about a year and a half ago ago. I was never warned of possible eye redness that may be permanent prior to the surgery. I then had a "corrective" surgery done a month afterwards, and i was never warned of possible eye redness that may be permanent prior to that surgery either. Afterwards, I was assured that my redness would dissipate within 6 months. It has been 15 months and it is still red. I just visited a third eye doctor last week who assured me that the redness was permanent, that 'nothing could be done' about it unless I was willing to risk having further redness.

I've been scanning literature and NOTHING says anything about permanent redness following scleral buckle surgery! And this sucks since its permanent, duh. DOES THIS MAKE SENSE and do I have a case for a malpractice suit?

I've got this same problem. I was never informed that the redness would stay. It has been at least 3 years past my surgery and my eye is still red. It is very aggravating that I hadn't been told ahead of time and there are still floaters in my eye that are annoying. So, in my case, it always feels like my eye still needs to be fixed. It does. The retina is re-attached (has been for 3 years) but enough is enough. If i had known that I would have to live with these problems after the surgery for so long, I would have rather tried something different.

And it honestly sucks having to live with this every single day. It affects my eye both vision-wise and appearance-wise, and is very distracting to me. If there is a way to fix this ASAP, sign me up.
