Personal Facebook Messages Hacked

Postby Rapere » Mon Jun 23, 2014 1:27 pm

Hello. I'm so glad I came upon this site as I am feeling completely helpless in my situation and am having a difficult time getting assistance to solve this problem.

Someone accessed my Facebook account and took a great amount of time to look through my personal messages and find the ones they thought would be the most damaging to me personally and professionally. The first incident was when these messages were sent from MY Facebook account to my friend. It looked as if I had sent the messages - which I obviously did not. I changed my password and deactivated my account. Since that time, those same private messages have been printed out and mailed through the USPS to several people including two of my clients! I have had to do so much damage control with my employer and clients as well as my friends and I am still in fear of what will result from this. My life has been completely violated! The packages contain hundreds of pages of my private messages. I do know that a person I barely knew - and whom I rejected romantically - was left alone with my iPhone and accessed my texts because he read my conversation with 2 separate people making plans for dinner. He showed up at both of these dates - he kept his distance but was harassing me via text. I can only assume he was also able to somehow access my Facebook or somehow copy some information that allowed him to access it at a later time. After that incident is when these messages started being sent out. So far this has spanned over almost 5 months and I am constantly in fear of who else will receive these private and intimate messages. After my clients began receiving these packages through the mail, I hired a private investigator who is concentrating on the person I suspect but nothing is being accomplished. What should I do to positively identify this person so that I can make this stop and perhaps even sue him in civil court? So far, I have contacted police who said they could do nothing. He only followed me twice that I know if and both times it was a public place - so no stalking charges. The harassing text were only on those 2 occasions and I have had no contact from him since - so it can't be considered harassment in that way. With him no longer contacting me directly, it seems my hands are tied! I contacted the local FBI who showed slight interest but have not taken any action. Finally I hired a PI with funds I don't even have! Please help me figure out what to do! I appreciate your time and consideration.

Good Morning Gina,

If your account was accessed and you did not give anyone permission to do so, you have been the victim of a crime and need to notify your local police department that you would like to report a "unauthorized access" to a computer system and or network.

Have all your account information past and present ready for them and be sure to have as many names, dates and times already written down and in order so that they have good information to follow up on. This is a fairly simple crime to follow up on and it should be reported as soon as possible as its also time sensitive sometimes because of data retention issues with certain providers.

Here is your states laws about this they are very clear and you are a victim of this, remember to report it!http://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t16c016.php
