Question about stealing from claires in florida?

Postby webb » Mon Mar 19, 2012 12:36 pm

i stupidly stole a pain of earrings that were worth $6.00 dollars. i did it out of impulse and have learned. anyway, the settlement is from a law office two hours away from me, for $200 dollars under 772.11 civil theft. my court date for the incident is after this "payment" is due. should i pay it? will the judge see that i didn't pay and will it affect the outcome? and what will claires do if i don't pay it? i'm thinking that i shouldn't pay it because it's not from the sheriff''s office, and everyone online is saying that claires won't sue

Question about stealing from claires in florida?

So... you are saying a $6 pair of earrings - you screwed up and owe $200.

Now you want to try to skip out on the $200... what do you *think* the consequences would be?

How many turns on the the wheel of 'I was stupid - this is gonna hurt' would you need to take before you said ''umm.. maybe I just better get myself right and stop trying to get over..'' ?

What might claires do? They might run you through the system *again* - for non-payment (btw - this is going to include non-payment to their *lawyers* - - their *lawyers **really** want to get paid - - so they can run you through the system again - taking up your time and embarrassing you and adding *new* fines on top of the old ones. Possibly adding jail time this time around.
