Question, if you believe in a completely free market, shouldn't you also believe in the free movement of?

Postby dureau » Wed Jul 04, 2012 9:31 pm

people?

Why should people require visas to move wherever they want to move? Isn't it a form of trapping people in the countries they are without giving them the fair chance to make it elsewhere?

We believe in the free movement of goods but we don't believe in the free movement of people?

I'm not saying countries shouldn't have laws or borders. I'm saying non-criminals should be allowed to move freely from any country to any country in a true FREE MARKET world.

Your question has a lot of generalizations and no specifics, but if you are asking if people should be allowed to immigrate to the US then the answer is yes, LEGALLY. Otherwise you do not have a free market, you have anarchy.

Somewhat.

Many Libretatarians do believe that immigration should be pretty open and free, as it was in the early 20th century.

But now for security reasons, among other things, people feel that there should be some check, although you'll find that among Libertarians that want some immigration control, they probably want pretty easy immigration laws.

Keep in mind that thats Libretarians, PaleoConservatives are different entirely.

I am just going to point out that controlling the borders is one of the very few things that the government does that is constitutional.

However, I have mixed feelings on this one. I do believe that the market should dictate immigration, AS LONG as there aren't entitlement programs and free hospital stays for these immigrants at the expense of taxpayers. I believe that many of our problems would be solved if we were to have the right to reject non-citizens from our hospitals and not allow non-citizens to collect welfare.

Another thing, in reality, we can't just let everyone storm into the United States. They all would if they could. MOst of these people who live in liberal countries like El Salvador, Mexico, Cuba and all over Asia would be here for the chance at a better life. They really just cannot be taken care of. If those other countries played by the same rules as us, and had similar freedoms, fine! But they don't. These liberal nations actually enslave their people..

that's fine if we get rid of the benefits system to ensure people don't come here just to be lazy and live off those who go to work but as yet we don't have a truly capitalist world, we have lazy lefties poking their snouts into other people's troughs so they can use their jealousy to try to make hard working entrepreneurial people give up ad become another pin in their big weird haystack of let me look after you cos i am talentless and lazy but want fame and recognition.

Yes, governments trap people.People are labor.Nothing more.Sometimes cheap, sometimes free labor. You can't let your best cows get out of the pen! Until the world is one big farm, you have to be able to compete with other farms.Free movement is nice, but doesn't guarantee freedom.
