Rangel: Only 13 allegations and denying each and every allegation of the new charges?

Postby rushford79 » Wed Oct 26, 2011 11:57 pm

Why shouldn't these crooks be subject to sell all assets to compensate the tax payers, and then do their time?

http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-07-29/house-ethics-panel-outlines-13-charges-against-rangel.html

July 29 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. House ethics investigators outlined 13 allegations of wrongdoing against New York Democrat Charles Rangel, including soliciting donations from companies with business before Congress.

The charges, spelled out at a meeting of a House ethics subcommittee, allege that Rangel sought and obtained $8 million in donations to an academic center bearing his name from companies or foundations with business before the House Ways and Means Committee. Rangel, 80, stepped aside as chairman of the tax-writing panel in March after the ethics committee cited him for accepting corporate-sponsored travel.

Rangel “denies each and every allegation” of the new charges, his lawyers said in a statement filed with the committee. Rangel didn’t dispense political favors, “did not intentionally violate any law, rule or regulation” and didn’t “misuse his public office for private gain,” they wrote.

Rangel: Only 13 allegations and denying each and every allegation of the new charges?

They're trying to work out some kind of a deal with Rangel.

They really don't care about ethics, or they wouldn't even attempt a deal. I doubt that there is one really ethical individual in the whole US government.

Dirty deals and chicanery are the rule, not the exception.

The others were smarter, and don't get caught. And those who have enough cronies, or enough infomation on the others' dirty deals won't get prosecuted for their own corruption; that's how government works.

Politicians from both parties have been looting our economy for decades, to benefit their own cronies and special interests, as well as themselves.

And, even if found guilty, Rangel will probably keep a fat pensioin; the politicians never take away the benefits of their cronies.

Ethics and honesty in American government are extinct.

Deny, deny, deny... Stay strong Mr. Rangel! Make them drag you kicking and screaming through the legal process... Take yourself down into the mire and the entire democrat party with you.

I will laugh all the way until November comes and these buffoons are voted back into insignificance.

Rangel, Kerry, etc... Prime examples of why the public doesn't trust politicians; they aren't there to serve the public interest, their only interest is in stuffing their pockets with as much of the American publics money as they can.

it's weird since two days ago Rangel wanted to make a deal. he would plea guilty but when asked about some of the charges he refused to answer.

The sad thing is that while what Rangel did is wrong it is small potatoes compared to what others have done and are doing.

Is it not typical how liberals and Democrats are defending this Rangel to the last?
