Recently fired from 5-yr job. Ex-coworker (not manager) is telling others why I was fired. Is this slander?

I was recently fired from a retail job I had for 5 years. An ex-coworker (NOT a manager) is telling our mutual friends (possibly strangers also) why I was fired, even though I don't think it is his business to share such information. I am not friends with this ex-coworker and I don't think he should be talking about me. Our mutual friend told me that my ex-coworker was talking about me when he went to my former workplace for a purchase. Is this a form of slander? I live in Pennsylvania. Thank you.

only if the excuse is false. Truth is the ultimate defense in a slander case.

It's not slander if it's true.
