Red-light camera or regular camera? Ticket?(Need help!)?

Postby osmont » Sat Jul 21, 2012 12:42 pm

Hi, Everyone. I just got a problem, it might be serious and I am worried about this.

The scenario as follow: I went to the DMV for road test today, I passed the parallel parking, but when I went to the road, I made a mistake. I ran a yellow-red left turn at a crossroads, the DMV staff was disappointed and obviously I should stop because my speed was a little bit low when enter the left line, and I failed the test automatically.

I asked the DMV staff will I get a ticket for this mistake? He said you are lucky because there was no policeman, and he said at that crossroads, no camera.

However, I find there are 4 regular traffic camera on each direction (see Picture below) , it's NOT the red-light camera for sure, I did a research on google, some websites says those regular traffic camera for the purpose of Traffic Monitoring, not for red-light ticket.

But I am still not sure if this will be caught for a ticket in the future.

I am an international student, now at Arizona, today I used my friend's car to take the road test, if I get the ticket, would the name on the ticket be my friend?

Please, please, give me some suggestion and helps!

Traffic monitoring cameras are not used for enforcement, so you have nothing to worry about. Red light cameras have to record data on signal status and vehicle speed, plus have good enough resolution to capture license plates -- ordinary traffic monitoring cameras can't do any of that.

Red light cameras send a ticket to the vehicle's registered owner, who is responsible for it the way he would be for a parking ticket. (And would probably expect you to reimburse him for it the same as if you had parked illegally somewhere.) It does not result in any points against a license or other consequences you would face if you were stopped by a police officer and given an ordinary red light ticket.

Its cool. If it was a traffic cam there should be signs saying traffic camera area.
