A lot will depend on how long you are to be at your new station. If you accept residence in your new location, then your records should reflect that. Perhaps you should discuss it with the civilian personnel office. The rules are different than that for active duty military.

As a civilian you will have to register yourself with the new State every time you move and be held to their tax laws. Sadly you can not claim your original State like many do that are active duty. Like I did since I am a Texan which helped me avoid the State tax in the numerous States that I served in.
