Rental Security Deposit in CA?

Postby victorio83 » Thu Oct 27, 2011 4:57 am

I moved out of a rental on Sept. 2, 2010. According to the California law, I am entitled to receive my security deposit back by 21 days from vacating the property. My security is $500.00 and to me that's a lot of money! I haven't received a check for $500.00 or even a letter. The landlord is a property management company too! I am so disappointed and I've left 3 voicemail messages for them. I have not received a call back either. What should I do??

Did you leave them your forwarding address? If so, take your proof to court and sue the landlord for failure to return the deposit.
