Ugh, somehow for a class I am supposed to prove the negative side of: "It is morally permissible to kill one innocent person to save the lives of more innocent people."
The story: In Debate class, we are working on our first debates. The teacher divided the class into groups of three. My debate team, consists of sophomore me, drug- addict 0.0% grade sophomore boy, and well- rounded senior who is enjoying herself in FLORIDA! I'm left alone to get eight articles to prove the statement above. It's unfair that I'm left to do all of this alone and my teacher THINKS she understands the stress I'm under. I asked for help and pointed me to a website that says, "This argument is irrelevant." How do I prove a moral?
The best I have is beliefs of different religions on killing. And the only other thing I can think of is laws. So, I'm using the Core Democratic Values but I can't find any other laws in any other country! I've searched for like two and a half hours and I'm going CRAZY! I need at least three more articles by tomorrow. It's FREAKING HOPELESS!
I guess what I'm trying to ask is, is there any website that has laws and/ or rights in other countries that I can use for my debate? thanks for reading all of this...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_of_capital_punishment_by_nation
Capital punishment is also known as the death penalty and the following countries still allow it for murder:
BENIN (AFRICA)--Death penalty for armed robbery; Murder; traffickers involved in "labor exploitation". Current steps are being taken for abolition; latest execution in 1987.
BOTSWANA (AFRICA)--Death penalty for murder; treason; attempt on the life of the head of state; mutiny; desertion in the face of the enemy; last execution in 2010
CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC--Death penalty for treason; espionage; charlatanism; witchcraft; assassination; murder; latest execution in 1981.
EGYPT--Death penalty for Rape, if accompanied by kidnapping of the victim; murder; treason; organized drug trafficking; latest execution in 2010.
ETHIOPIA (AFRICA)--Death penalty for murder, Treason, armed conspiracy, genocide, outrages against the constitution; latest execution in 2007
GHANA (AFRICA)--Death penalty for murder; treason; armed robbery; latest execution 1993.
(Other countries in Africa are listed alphabetically )

Of the 35 independent states in the Americas that are UN members:
3 (9%) maintain the death penalty in both law and practice.
15 (43%) have abolished it.
4 (11%) retain it for crimes committed in exceptional circumstances (such as in time of war).
13 (37%) permit its use for ordinary crimes, but have not used it for at least 10 years and are believed to have a policy or established practice of not carrying out executions, or it is under a moratorium.
The United States carries out more executions than any other liberal democracy (as defined by Freedom House) in the world. The only other countries in the Americas which practice capital punishment are Cuba and St. Kitts and Nevis.
ANTIGUA & BARBUDA--Death penalty for murder; latest execution 1991
BAHAMAS--Death penalty for treason; Piracy; Murder; latest execution 2000
(Just follow the chart and it will tell where/why the dealth penalty is being used)

Since you have to debate the negative side (or NOT killing one to save many), type this into Google search--"Not killing one person to save others lives"--and it lists MANY sources to use. Included are
http://www.debate.org/debates/it-is-morally-permissible-to-kill-one-innocent-person-to-save-the-lives-of-more-innocent-persons./1/
http://www.debate.org/debates/it-is-morally-permissible-to-kill-one-innocent-person-to-save-the-lives-of-many-innocent-people./3/ (shows the debate)
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080901192142AA0AhoU (similar YA question from 2008)

I agree with you--it is not right for your team mates to expect you to do ALL the work and get credit for it. If they ask, I wouldn't give them your sources. You should get the credit for at least trying to find help.
