Review My Financial Aid Appeal Please!?

Postby adaya » Wed May 30, 2012 11:16 pm

Dear Financial Aid Committee:

My name is _____ and I am writing this letter on my own behalf in hopes of appealing Ivy Tech Community College's decision to suspend my financial aid for the 2013 fall term. I understand that Ivy Tech has set forth standards to ensure that the financial aid system is not abused, and is only given to hard working individuals who deserve a chance to better their education. I am asking for a second chance to prove my willingness, and determination for my educational future.

The Fall semester of 2010 was a very overwhelming and stressful time in my life. I am fully aware that I did not attend classes regularly. Trying to balance my personal life with school resulted in my having to drop my classes. I take full responsibility for my actions, and given the opportunity to show you my dedication would be so much appreciated.

In the Fall of 2010 my family and I went threw a extreme hardship. My father has severe heart problems and was unable to work. My mother was trying to balance raising a family as well as supporting a college student, and maintaing a household on a cashier salary. I lost focus on school, and my work schedule consumed my life. I worked so I could try and support myself, pay my own bills, and try to help out my family as much as I could in there time of need. At 18 years old I had a lot of my shoulders. I dropped all but one of my classes that first semester, and I decided to go back to school when I new I could focus all my time to my classes. I was then put on probation.

After taking a year off school In the Spring of 2012 I was scheduled to take a Medical Terminology class, which I never attended due to the fact I didn't know I was registered to take it. I was a no show in class, which resulted in a F for the class, and termination of my Financial aid. I had never accepted, or received any financial aid for the Spring of 2012, or for that class. I can not attend school, or have the funds to complete my education without Financial Aid. I hope that one bad semester does not ruin my chances for a great future.

I am now 20 years old, and have a great plan for my future. In the spring of 2012 I took a EMT Class and I am now a Certified EMT at Washington County Ambulance Service. My I am also a Certified Nurses Aid. My father is doing better, and currently has a job which has taken much stress off my entire family. I feel like now I am ready to mature, and be a adult and completely focus on my school work.

My goal for my education is to get my Associate degree In Paramedic Science. I would then life to join the Air force, and hopefully one day my dream will come true to my a Flight Paramedic. None of this can happen if I do not continue my schooling, and thats where I please ask for you to consider my appeal for my financial aid.

Im not like your typical college freshmen faced with new found freedom, I am an intelligent, hard-working individual with high values for myself. I realize the importance of a college education. I want to assure you that I am 100% determined to complete my final school year at Ivy Tech Community College. I am in desperate need of your aid for the 2012-2013 school year and I kindly ask you to reconsider my suspension for financial aid. I am willing to prove to you that I will do whatever it takes If there are any questions you may have please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you...

How does it sound? I have proof of everything. Any tips would be helpful.
