Security breach on Yahoo?

Postby denys » Sat Jul 14, 2012 5:20 am

Before this is deleted by some pony-tail with make-up on, it would stand to reason that in a normal society, conglomerates (or wooden planks) like Yahoo, are held accountable for the breach and subsequent publication of over 450,000 customer passwords online.
I know it takes little more than an illiterate to push a button, but, at least in the US, I think it is about time a class action law suit against this criminals should take place.
Was there a security breach, despite Yahoo's guarantee that Yahoo have up-to-date technology to deal with fraudsters? Of course there was! Put down the doggie bag down, you twits, get your act together and stop allowing fraudsters to denigrate (what never really was, anyway) a social site.

Makes sense. Someone holds up a bank - the bank manager has to go to prison, not the robber.

You're a genius.

No one is FORCING you to have a Yahoo account.

Though, you might want to contact an attorney, and get ready for the lawsuit against you for libel...

Security breach on Yahoo?

Postby mace » Sat Jul 14, 2012 6:00 am

First of all, Yahoo is not a "conglomerate". Their business units are all related, and in the same industry. I'd have thought that someone from England would know English...

Secondly, it's Yahoo - of course there are going to be security breaches! What did you expect? The more popular a site is, the more attractive it is to hackers.

Thirdly, Yahoo only ever promised that it would have deterrents - it never "guaranteed" that those systems would be effective.

Oh, so you were one of the ones who had his password published? That must have caused you a lot of suffering.

Whats that? Your account wasnt compromised? Hm. Yahoo totally owes you compensation for being hacked.

Found on another forum and I quote:

"Companies can't be trusted to give a s#@%about your personal security, and lawmen and/or politicians are too f#@$%&@g clueless about technology to understand that storing unencrypted passwords should be considered criminal negligence and dealt as such."
