Should I plead guilty & pay my speeding ticket or should I fight it? (New Jersey)?

Postby geol19 » Mon Jul 30, 2012 2:02 am

So I was pulled over today and received one ticket for driving 43 mph in a 25 mph zone. I just didn't realize I was going that fast because it's an open road with a few buildings. This is the first time I was ever pulled over, much less getting a speeding ticket.

In the state of NJ, that would mean I get 4 points tacked on to my license and I'd have to pay a fine. I was thinking of fighting it to maybe get it reduced to 2 points so then I could take a defensive driving course, deducting those 2 points. In the end, MAYBE I'd have zero points but a greater fine.

Any thoughts? What should I say to win the judge over? Should I take the 4 points and risk paying more for auto insurance? Thanks in advance!

first read the requirements in NJ for speed limit signs , like how big they have to be how often they have to be repeated, how high how unobstructed etc , lazy incompetent corrupt cops often hang around badly(illegally) signed roads to give easy tickets, those signs have to comply exactly with state regulations or they are invalid, it's what high priced "mr fixit" lawyers often do , some road signs in one state were illegal and the DMV had to go back 3 years giving pardons and refunds and damages to motorists who had been illegally ticketed and fined

i dunno how you plan to fight it since you are guilty.

not realizing you were speeding isn't a good defense.
