Should i trust my OB knows what they are doing?

Postby emilek17 » Tue Jul 24, 2012 8:46 am

I know every one keeps telling me that they wouldn't be an OB if they didn't know what they were talking about. Im really questioning the guys. My husbands in the military so i am FORCED to see military OB. Well I was enrolled in a program they have on post called the "new parent support program" and my i guess you could call her a "case worker" informed me when i found out i was pregnant that the hospital that would be treating me for mt pregnancy lost its grant to deliver baby's due to so many malpractice suits. This makes me so scared. My Husband came home from deployment december 9, 2011 a week or so into January I had a positive home test went to this hospital and did a blood test it was negative. I went home so upset..i bought a box of one cheep test. a first response what i have always got and a box of True blue. Took one out of each box..only one test a day and they ALL came back POSITIVE! in the mean time i got another blood test it was still neg. they did the number one this time and it was only 13. i took this on a friday monday i was to go back to c if the number went up at all but sunday morning at 2 am i was bleeding and had passed a clot. I get to the ER and they did my other blood work and my number was down to 8. THEY SAY I was NEVER pregnant it was just a bad period. (my ***) i asked for an ultrasound they said it wasn't necessary then i asked if i had to have a DNC they said only if my bleeding was too much and Pain was to bad they released me and i went home. Few weeks later i find out im pregnant and they said i was only about 4 weeks or so. this got me questioning them to start because the dates fall the second day into my "miscarriage". now im 28 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. I have negative blood so i have to have a rogam shot i got one at like 11 or 12 weeks bc i was bleeding and another at 26 weeks because i started bleeding again. The first time they did an ultrasound and there was blood in my uterus and this time nothing they cant explain it.my cervex isn't thinning it wasn't external bleeding now im having ultrasounds for measuring the baby and check my kidneys. they baby weighs 2.9 lbs at 27 weeks 1day...? that's more then a pound over what she should weigh right now. idk where to turn. I had a 1 hr glucose test done barely passed by the skin of my teeth they don't send me for the other testing even though they know the baby's 1lb over her mark and i have already gained 50+ lbs myself!
nothing about this whole pregnancy makes me feel right at all. My son came at 37 weeks on this own I have a bicornate uterus so they said that was why he had ran out of room and here he came. these dr fail to acknowlage my condition. they asked if i wanted to attempt a VBAC..I immedietly said NO i really dont want to have surgery by any of these dr but i felt a scheduled c section would be safer for my self and my baby then if anything went wrong during a VBAC. My due dates october 14th...and i want to asked to be induced on the 3rd bc that was my sons due date and all 3 of our kids will have a 3 in their birthdays. im scared now that i wont make it till then if i was pregnant befor my due date would have been in the middle of september and i just cant help but think. what if i was only just bleeding and never misscarried because if i were like 30-32 weeks right now my weight would kind of be right this is about how much i gained with my first son and with my bicornate uterus the baby would be smaller then normal. or if i had diabeties then that would explain her weight being higher and mine...Y cant i get real answers from these dr..? Im high risk because of my c section and i feel like im just being seen by a regular dr. I have only ONE time have to give a urine sample for them to test. WHAT SHOULD I DO..?

Ok, all I can say is NEVER trust military doctors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to a civilian doctor always! Talk to tricare and get a referral... do you live on post? If not, then you are allowed to see a civilian doctor that is closest to you.

I have had a really bad experience with military doctors... I had to have a surgery on my uterus, it was supposed to laproscopic... which would have been only 2-3 tiny incisions, however they cut across my abdomen 3 times... I have 6-9 inch scars going across my stomach. To top it off... they didn't mention anything in the recovery room, and of course I was really out of it so I didn't notice. When I called them the next day to ask WHAT THE F DID YOU DO TO ME!! they said "oh, well we had trouble getting the instruments in" ok... WTF?!?!?!

Military doctors are not trained like civilian doctors... they are not held to the standard that civilian doctors are... and because of the government they are protected and you cannot legally touch them!

The doctors and medical facilities on post follow the same federal laws and requirements as off post doctors. If you live on post or not you are not required to use the post doctors. If they will not give you an off post referral you have the option to change your insurance to standard from prime. With standard you visit off post doctors only. If you visit an off post doctor without changing to standard or getting a referral you will be responsible for 100% of those medical charges.
