Stuff to delete? Internal memory on samsung exibit almost full, phones slow.?

I have a android samsung exibit, in it I have a class 10 16gig sdcard with almost 500mb internal memory and 389 of that is full. I don't have to many apps on internal phone memory just a couple to use as widget or access won't allow me to move to sd.
Other than the apps that are on phone internal memory, what else is eating up all that memory? My phone is not rooted also. My phone lately has been running slow and I've also noticed its not as fast loading my sd card at start up or restart even though the sd card is class 10. I also use auto killer as well when my phone is acting up.

What actions can I take to make my phone faster?
Why do I have to use auto kill sometimes to keep my text message window from force closing?

You dont have to delete nothing(: just go to each individual app and hitt the option that says "clear cache" itll give you back app space.
