Test in math. Unit test. very important grade?

Postby abelard29 » Wed Mar 07, 2012 3:33 am

I only have time to help with a few, but...
1. 3x^8 – 7x^8 (1 point)
a.–4x^16
b.-21x^18
c.-4x^8
d.10x^8

As long as the exponent is the same, you just subtract the bases. So, 3-7 is -4, so the answer is c

2. Do the same as number 1

Write the polynomial in standard form. Then name the polynomial based on its degree and number of terms.
3. 2 – 11x2 – 8x + 6x2
a.-5x^2 - 8x + 6x^2; quadratic trinomial
b.-5x^2 - 8x; quadratic binomial
c.-6x^2 - 8x - 2;cubic polynomial
d.6x^2 - 8x + 2;cubic trinomial

combine like terms, so 11x^2 + 6x^2 is 17x^2

17x^2-8x-2

4.
