The Dream Act would only allow illegals to get loans, so why are Republicans saying it's free college?

Under the Dream Act, illegals would only be eligible for loans, nothing is free! so why are Republicans running with "It's free college for all illegals"?

The Dream Act - Immigration Law Reform in 2010

Conditional residents under the DREAM Act will be eligible for private loans to fund their education, but will not be eligible for Pell grants. Under the DREAM Act, 65,000 students could become conditional residents each year, and eventually become permanent residents and citizens if they comply with current immigration rules and regulations.

Because the Dream Act also allows illegals to get the lower (taxpayer subsidized) tuition rates.

Care to explain why people from other countries who are here illegally should pay lower tuition rates than the people here on legit student visas?

Another problem with the Dream act is that it only applies to people who are here illegally. Somebody who came here on a legetimate student visa does not get the 'path to citizenship' that the illegals do.

Since when is it fair to reward only those people who are breaking our immigration laws? Wouldn't true immigration reform focus on those people who came here legally and have demonstrated their citizenship by obeying our laws?

That is not what Republicans or those opposed to the Dream Act are saying. What we are saying is that the DREAM Act gives rights and advantages to illegals that US Citizens don't get. Why should illegals be given an advantage over US Citzens?

Because more than half of them will not pay their loans and the working middle class americans will have to make up the difference in tax dollars.
