The Primary Character Will Die. How Soon Would You Like To Understand?

Postby kendrix » Sat Dec 21, 2013 11:18 pm

In your hand you have a guide that has been compiled by your favorite writer(whoever that might be). The principal character made a short appearance in a preceding book, nonetheless it was so short that you just forgot about him. In this book, the author highlights the kind and identifies him at length. By the finish-of the book, this character is not 1 which you happen to be wanting will die(unlike Jarjar Binx). How quickly are you wanting to locate out that the type is going to die? In the first? When you have learned just a tiny about him? Abruptly and unexpectedly when the time comes? In the quite end?

The Main Character Is Going To Die. How Soon Do You Want To Know?

Postby Gotthard » Tue Jan 14, 2014 7:52 am

Shocking! Either at the beginning to draw interest to him or unexpectedly.  Ideally in a way that combines the two.  Which is to say, if you knew what to appear for, it would be apparent he was doomed but the very first time you read via, you didn?t so it shocked and upset you. The Main Character Is Going To Die. How Soon Do You Want To Know?

Postby Nehemiah » Wed Jan 15, 2014 12:22 pm

I don?t want to know correct away that the principal character is going to die, or even in any part of the very first half of the book.  That does nothing at all for me.  (Unless, of course, the twist is it begins off with the character about to die and goes into a flashback, that getting the rest of the book, until the end.)   I like suddenly and unexpectedly because you really feel it much more.  I enjoy getting pulled so deeply into a character that I truly really feel for them.  That shocked feeling when a major character you had lost oneself in abruptly dies is almost addictive.

The Main Character Is Going To Die. How Soon Do You Want To Know?

Postby bedwyr » Thu Feb 06, 2014 10:57 pm

I don't think I really want to know until it happens--suddenly and unexpectedly.  Otherwise I'm just reading and waiting for it to happen around every corner!  I think I prefer the suprise.     In real life, you generally don't know someone is going to die in advance, so to me that kind of situation is what I would prefer in a book.  Actually, I don't want your main character to die, I just know it! I already like him, and you've told us all about him and death is so final and it's all so unfair and don't die, Main Character, please, don't die!!   Does this mean a new book is in the works?

The Main Character Is Going To Die. How Soon Do You Want To Know?

Postby Cameron » Sat Feb 08, 2014 7:04 am

If I were reading the book I would want to learn about the main character?s death very late.  If I learned about it at any time before the very end, I feel that he reader would have less of a reason to get involved with the character.  Why should a reader care about a character who is going to die soon?  Also, I like to be surprised about something like that.  If it is a thriller I don't want to know where the action is leading, if it is a drama/tragedy I would already be over the tragedy of it by the time that I actually see the character die.  So I think that you should only reveal the character's death at the moment of the death.
