They put the wrong information on my traffic ticket..what happens now?

I received a traffic citation for a violation of the basic speed law, this is my first offense and I was going under 10 mph over the speed limit. The officer said that I would receive 2 points on my license. When I looked at the ticket issued it is all my father's information. The car is registered in his name, however, he was not the driver or even present. The ticket is a printed ticket nothing is handwritten. Will they dismiss the ticket? This is in the state of Michigan.

You better go to Court and 'fess up, or your Father is screwed.

I don't think so. Clerical errors happen all the time. That is not a basis for dismissing a ticket. If you try to doge it, they will come after your dad.

Just pay it or go to court but don't expect it to be dismissed.

I don't know about Michigan, but in canada Judge will dismiss the ticket.

they could accuse you of identity theft.
