Thinking about moving to DC area?

I live in Northern NJ, moved here from Portland, OR, currently attending college, but will be done pretty soon. I am majoring in criminal justice and most likely will end up in govt sector. DC by far would be the best choice for me career wise, obviously more govt jobs, esp in law enforcement/intelligence field, which I find fascinating. My school also provides internships to places like CIA in Langley so I could take advantage of that too. The only thing, I heard DC has horrible traffic and is just as expensive as where I am now. Is it less congested though? Would it be a good choice for me? I was also thinking about Philly and Boston.
