Turn right from straight lane to avoid stuck in traffic jam?

Postby jordi » Thu Jul 05, 2012 5:01 am

I am not a good writter, I will try to address the situation correctly

Few days ago I was driving in city and run into a traffic jam, when I follow the traffic slowly moved to an intersection the traffic in front of me was almost stopped, so I decide to turn right from straight lane to avoid stuck in the traffic jam

IMO better get out of traffic jam than waiting on the road and wasting gas to create more polutions while making the traffic jam even worse

My question is: In this situation, is turn right from straight lane still considered as a traffic offense? If I got any ticket shall I plead at the court?(my reason: traffic almost stopped ahead, I just try to avoid from stuck in traffic jam)

Traffic laws do not come with "exceptions". If a law says NO right turn, it means NO right turn, PERIOD.

Judges in traffic court, and cops have heard it thousands of times: "well I was just (enter excuse here)"

"I was just speeding for a short time to pass" or "I was just in the carpool lane for a minute" or "I was just drafting, not tailgating" or WHATEVER.......

They don't CARE if you were stuck in traffic.
