US Coast Guard Law Enforcement?

Postby winfrid12 » Thu Jul 19, 2012 8:36 pm

In the US your vocational school "police" education means absolutely nothing other than IF the school is properly accredited some police departments will accept it, with a lot of trouble, as hours counted towards the college hours the department will accept as part of their requirement. Many require 60 accredited semester hours of college.
A majority of such schools offering police vocational education are not only not accredited but are not legitimate and definitely not up to date with what you are taught.

Look into whatever you want. You want Coast Guard (btw the closest any military police get to doing any real police work) go for it. Want something real to do while waiting and that will make you a better candidate, go to community college and get a part time job that deals with the public, like in sales or services.. No one cares what your major will be but whatever you learn and the modicum of maturity that you will gain with the exposure will make you a better person and therefore a better candidate.
