us department of litigation what is this dept doing to help me i have been told by a collection angency that i owe a debt but i dont have this dept at all they say i can be brought to court and jailed for not paying this debt if i dont pay it now the debt is for 3900 dollars and they will write it off for less than 1000 dollars if i pay it now with a credit card i dont have credit cards i am on soc sec benifits that amount to 580 a month and dont owe anyone anything i am 70 years old in poor health i been told by local police this is a scam but they keep calling and threating me with being arrested for not paying this debt please let me know what i can do i am not going to pay something i dont owe but i am also not going to jail for this i am scared please answer me

There is no such thing as "US Department of Litigation".  Many scam artists target the elderly and try to intimidate them into paying bogus debts.  You will not be sent to prison over a debt.(unless you have cheated on your taxes or intentionally committed fraud)  If you were really in trouble, they wouldn't be harrassing you over the phone. You should report these calls to your local phone company.  They can trace them and put an end to them.
