Voting Rights: Should only income tax payers and property owners have voting rights?

Yes, because they are the ones paying the very taxes that government spends. If you are only leaching off the system yet not supporting the system why should you have the right to vote for more free stuff off the backs of those that actually pay for it. It would be a means of rewarding productive behavior instead of rewarding nonproductive behavior.

Voting Rights: Should only income tax payers and property owners have voting rights?

Nope. That sort of tyranny will not make this a strong nation again. Minorities and women have fought for rights such as these. Why take a step back? Whether or not the public is informed or misinformed, they deserve to have a voice. Voting is a constitutional right.

On the other hand, I don't vote. The game is rigged. That's just my assertion. I am sincerely waiting to be proven wrong. No politician, local, state or national, has ever fully represented my interests, and I like to exercise caution in choosing the better of two evils. A constant stuggle I have is determining which candidate is the better of two evils. If I have to choose between Romney and Obama, I will stay at home like I have since I've been old enough to vote.

No why do republicans want to prevent everyone from voting but themselves.

Like the want people to have ID's because they say it will prevent voter fraud but they can't point out a single case where there was any voter fraud.

This is just an attack against democracy.

Don't people realize the conservatives want to burn the constitution?

No, as far as I am concerned, if you are not granted the right to vote, you no longer have any responsibility to follow any laws. We need to expand voting rights by lowering the voting age, not adding restrictions to voting.

No. Plenty of great American citizens have come from poverty. But if you are using drugs and abusing welfare and commiting crimes year after year, you are not a worthy person n my view, and you are only going to vote for some idiot that keeps you in your dungeon, like Obama/

You forgot white males too. That is from an era gone by.

However, I am very much in favor of a current events test to prove these people have a clue what there vote is about.

We need to do something like that, yes.

Or at least get a license or something.

It's easier to get a voter registration card than to get a driver's license.

But voting can do a lot more damage.

Only veterans should be allowed to vote, if you don't defend it, you don't own it.

No. Because monetary issues aren't the only issues at stake.
