Was Gordon Kahl and old man who was picked on by law enforcement in 1983?

Postby kendon19 » Sat Apr 02, 2011 2:23 am

He was a decorated war hero in the Air Force during WW2. He just basically wanted to be left alone. There was a warrant for his arrest for a misdemeanor traffic ticket. Law enforcement shot his son in front of Gordon Kahl. He was shooting back at them in self defense. Yes, he killed two law enforcement officers, and shot one in the leg who lived. Yes he took a shot gun out of the hands of a police officer who begged him to not shoot him, and he also took his gun from his holster. The other police fled for their lives because Gordon Kahl was a sharp shooter whose son they had just nearly killed in front of him. He then took his son to the hospital, and then he wrote a final letter before he drove a police car to Arkansas. He was found in Arkansas 3 months later. A sheriff came in after him, and he shot the sheriff dead. But then Gordon Kahl was tortured, shot and his body burned. I do not think someone is "cool" for killing a cop. In fact it's crazy because they will hunt you down and kill you. But was Gordon Kahl being picked on unfairly? Should law enforcement just given respect to their elders, and one of our American war hero's? I will post Gordon Kahl's final letter. The website it's on has a bunch of stupid militia bull crap on it that doesn't interest me, but I couldn't find the website that just had the final letter without advertisements on the side. I apologies about that.

Gordon Kahl was a scumbag. Decorated WW2 hero or not. He was basically an anarchist who moved to Arkansas to find a place to hide. He was wanted, I'm not sure for what, but he was found in my home county in a home/bunker.
The FBI, State Police and local authorities surrounded his hideout. Gene Matthews, the Sheriff of Lawrence County entered Kahl's hideout, and was shot and killed by a bullet that entered his body despite him wearing a bullet proof vest.. Kahl died as well, there was no torture, the bunker/house burned down and if you care, shame on you. Gene Matthews was a friend of mine.

Gordon Kahl was a North Dakota Militia member.
He got exactly what he deserved in the end.
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth was the punishment that was bestowed upon him
and the law was correct in their dealings.
So he was a decorated war hero (which I doubt), big deal. When you take the step to act
upon your own feelings, right or wrong, no matter who or what gets in your way, you are absolutely wrong!

May Gordon Kahl rest peacefully. If someone killed my son, fat cop or not I'd blow their brains out.

Well from your description it sounds like he was a narcissistic scumbag. If he wanted to be left alone so badly then why didn't he just go peacefully, bond out, go back home and be left alone? Or better yet, pay the ticket and not have the warrant put out on him? Or even better still, not drive like an idiot and get the ticket in the 1st place?
