Was this police officer out of line?

Postby dalon » Tue Mar 13, 2012 12:17 am

I'll make this simple to understand. We are in Oregon. My husband has a class A felony on his record. He thought he cannot own a gun, which he cannot. (and in fact there is now a law allowing for felons to apply to have that right given back for recreational reasons as long as a weapon was not used in original crime) ok. He was originally convicted in 2006 and when released from prison, complied with probation for 3 years. He is not a bad guy so never got in trouble again, no drug use etc... It changed his life around going to prison. Now, 2 days ago he joined his cousin and our friend to gold panning for fun an hour from our home. On the way back, they got pulled over for driving down a closed road. There were guns in the vehicle that were registered and licensed to the other two guys NOT my husband. My husband did not touch them! The cop gave them citations for being on the closed road and told my husband he cannot be around guns but then let them all go and have my husband a warning. Then the cop called the drivers cell phone and said he messed up on paper work and wanted them to pull over somewhere and meet him. They did and he said "I lied, I need to arrest him " and he did.
