can you prove that it was malpractice or is that your opinion? it matters what you can prove anything else is speculation. anyway you have no rights as you were not in any fashion married and have no power of attorney over his estate.

Sadly, since you're not legally or biological related to him, you probably will not be able to sue for malpractice. Buying a house together and sharing bank accounts are not enough, or else friends or roommates can do the same thing you are trying to do. In the legal system's eye, you can't do anything about your boyfriend legally, unless he stated in his will that he wants you to specifically do something. But suing is probably out of the question.

unfortunately in the eyes of the law they only see you as in a casual relationship. you must have some sort of legally binding (marital) relationship with someone or blood related to someone to benefit from a malpractice suit the years you spent with your partner do not matter how many years you are together in florida as Florida does not recognize the "common-law marriage laws"

i would think the lawyers you talked to would know more than the people on yahoo answers...just because you want to hear a certain answer, doesnt mean you should keep asking around until you can find someone stupid enough to give it to you

some people are just rediculous

I don't think you have much to back you up if you weren't married and your partner did not name you as beneficiary in their will. Maybe you can get with his family to press a malpractice suit.

Nothing. In the eyes of the law, your relationship was no different than your relationship with some casual acqaintance -- perhaps some old high-school friend.
