An Echo in the Darkness by Francine Rivers. It is fantastic. It is about Hadassah, a Christian and Jewish slave in Rome who was betrayed by her former master and sent into the arena to die by lion attack. The book starts with a doctor needing to dissect a living victim (they weren't allowed to touch corpses back then) and choosing Hadassah. Instead of dissecting her, he cures her. She has to wear a veil to cover her scars and she walks with a limp because of the lion attack. People think she is an old gross widow but she is really young, like around twenty years old. She assists the doctor and God keeps making everything she does better so that people start thinking she's a healer. But then, she has to go back to her old master who is sick and she doesn't recognize her because of the veil. It is sooooooo good. There's also a love story and stuff. You have to read it. :) :) :)My English teacher is letting us pick a book to read for our last book club group this year. There are four girls in my group, all freshmen. We want a book that is short because we have to read it in two weeks and also one that we can get something out of. We have to present the book to our class when were done reading it. We need ideas! (Preferably Christian, no language or sexual things.) It can have romance, action, mystery, anything in it. Thanks.
