I'm writing a book and the main conflict is an alien is feeding ideas to the current English king, and a boy feels that it is his duty to stop him to save the world because everyone else is too afraid to suffer punishment.
What are some laws that are considered immoral and too personal to pass now? Do they give the government too much power? Do they make the government seem too concerned with its citizens?
For example: "No student that is a subject of the ruling family is allowed to score below the highest satisfactory in any of their studies. If they happen to do so, they will be dealt with by a doctor appointed by the Royal Court."
Then there's the weight problem: "Any subject known exceeding the appropriate weight given by their Body Mass Index will be personally located by soldiers and sent to a concentration camp where they will be starved into their appropriate weight. If a subject happens to be malnourished, they will be personally taken to the Castle and dine upon wondrous cuisine with the Royal Family."
There's pollution: "If any type of fossil fuel is discovered, it must not be touched or collected in any way to prevent pollution of the atmosphere."
